SANPC BUSINESS OVERVIEW

SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL PETROLEUM COMPANY

In the wake of evolving global megatrends, SA NPC will operate in an increasingly volatile, unpredictable, and disrupted world.

Furthermore, from the local economic outlook, it can be concluded that the South African economy is fragile, with a clear need for SOEs to play a positive role in infrastructure and key industries. Therefore, SA NPC is geared to play a driving role in rectifying various structural issues along the energy value chain through strong leadership and energy infrastructure development.

For SA NPC to become a Southern Africa’s energy champion and secure energy security and facilitate the development and operation of critical infrastructure, its core business in the energy value chain will be anchored on the following operational pillars

UPSTREAM

Refers to the initial stage in the oil and gas industry, encompassing the exploration, drilling, and extraction of raw hydrocarbons from underground or underwater reservoirs.

MIDSTREAM

Involves the transportation, storage, and wholesale marketing of oil and gas, serving as the intermediary between extraction (upstream) and refining or sales (downstream).

DOWNSTREAM

Pertains to the refining of crude oil, processing of natural gas, and distribution of finished products like gasoline, diesel, and petrochemicals to end-users and markets.
