Biography
Mr. Andrew Mashifane is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and a Certified Internal Auditor. He is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in audit, advisory, tax and governance roles. Andrew spent 21 years as an audit partner of big audit firms performing roles in auditing private (including listed entities) and public sector clients, advising clients on effective financial & performance management and reporting, effective governance processes and reporting, and assessing and advising on compliance with applicable legislation.
Andrew is a member in good standing of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA). He is also an Affiliate Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors of South Africa (IIASA) and an Associate Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
Andrew has chaired entity Audit Committees in the public sector since 2004, ensuring unqualified audit opinions for all the years involved. Key skills included effective management of the committee membership, engaging executive management and accounting authorities/Boards on effective financial and performance reporting, systems and processes, engaging with the supreme audit institute (AGSA) and respective internal auditors, and assessing the effectiveness of financial and risk management and internal controls.
He also serves as Chairperson of the Board of the Leadership Academy for Guardians of Governance (a subsidiary of the Institute of Internal Auditors of South Africa)
Andrew possesses strong multi-disciplinary skills and can simultaneously manage several projects and schedules.
Qualifications include a B Com from the Witwatersrand University, Hons B Compt, Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Taxation, and an LLB degree from the University of South Africa. Andrew is completing an LLM in Corporate Law with the University of South Africa.
